HONG KONG – The new passenger departure facilities at Terminal 2 of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will commence operations on May 27, according to Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK).

AAHK Chairman Fred Lam Tin-fuk and Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan made the announcement during the Chinese New Year celebrations at the airport on Tuesday.

Launching the Terminal 2 departure facilities – commissioned in phases to align with passenger traffic demand – in May will enable the airport to meet the anticipated surge in passengers during the summer peak season, the authorities said.

Designed to be a trendy and vibrant space for leisure travellers, the terminal will serve 15 airlines operating short-haul and regional routes, the AAHK said in a statement, adding that the airlines will move to Terminal 2 in phases.
