A spring flower show and Chinese New Year flower fair opened together on Tuesday in Shenzhen’s Bao’an district, adorning Bao’an waterfront central area with 10,000 square meters of floral splendor.

Decorated with more than 50,000 pots of plants, this year’s event presents a glorious display featuring tens of thousands of flowers, rare botanical specimens, 11 themed gardens, and a nightly light show.

A major highlight is the debut of the nationally rare “flower queen”—a magnificent weeping dragon plum tree. This prized cultivar, a cherished classic in East Asian horticulture developed through grafting techniques originating in China, boasts a sprawling crown reaching 10 meters wide.

The fair also showcases imported alpine rhododendron varieties. Through precise controlled-temperature and light-adjustment techniques, the flowers that typically thrive in misty high-altitude environments are now in full blossom.

As dusk falls, the celebration continues with a radiant light show at Haibin Square, scheduled nightly from 7 to 10 pm until Feb 16. The dazzling illuminations against the night sky are a must-see for visitors to the area.
