Shenzhen's spring arrives with floral displays, scenic viewing spots

Spring's arrival in Shenzhen is unmistakable, with golden trumpet trees ablaze in bright yellow blossoms dotting the urban landscape and bauhinia flowers draping treetops in a soft pink and white mantle.

Across the city, several prime locations offer stunning floral displays for the residents and visitors alike.

The Fairy Lake Botanical Garden (仙湖植物园) hosts its spring flower festival until Mar 3, showcasing tulips, amaryllis, daffodils, lilies, hyacinths, and around 50 other seasonal varieties.

Visitors have been advised to use public transport due to limited parking. The garden is an 11-minute walk from Exit C2 of Xianhulu Station (仙湖路) on Shenzhen Metro Line 2.

Reservations can be made in advance through the garden’s Chinese-language WeChat public account.  

The award-winning Xili Lake Greenway (环西丽湖绿道), a popular destination for hiking and cycling, now boasts blooming sunflower and canola flower fields. The greenway is within walking distance from Exit A of Baiwang (百旺) station on metro line 13.  

In Xili Ecological Park (西丽生态公园), white, pink, and magenta garden cosmos have transformed the landscape into an oil painting. The park is accessible by taxi or a 20-minute walk from Exit C of Shigu (石鼓) station on metro line 13.

Jingguan Park (景观公园), located on Huaying Road (华英路), features vibrant flamevine (pyrostegia venusta). Visitors can take a taxi or walk 25 minutes from Exit C of Chiwan (赤湾) station on metro lines 2 or 8.
