Resilience in focus

2025 saw Hong Kong face a record number of typhoons, and the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. However, the city was also blessed with notable achievements in the political, economic, scientific, and cultural fields. 

China Daily Hong Kong photographers were at the frontlines, capturing the defining moments of residents’ trademark resilience and spirit. 

In the first of a three-part series, we present the most powerful news images, depicting a tale of strength, fortitude and hope that have come to shape the SAR’s identity.
