BEIJING - One hundred and thirty Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in gambling and fraud-related crimes were extradited from Cambodia by public security authorities of both countries and brought back to China on Saturday morning, according to China's Ministry of Public Security.

The suspects arrived at Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, Hubei province, on two chartered flights operated by Chinese civil aviation.

This marks the first batch of suspects jointly targeted for extradition by the law enforcement agencies of both countries in the crackdown on gambling and fraud-related crimes this year.

The public security authorities said that there will be more suspects who will be extradited back to China in batches.

In recent years, in order to crack down on transnational gambling, telecom fraud, and other crimes, the Chinese and Cambodian law enforcement authorities have closely cooperated and achieved a series of results.

China's public security authorities, in conjunction with the Cambodian police, have recently organized a joint operation to combat gambling and fraud-related crimes.

During the operation, the Cambodian police dismantled several gambling and fraud dens in Preah Sihanouk, apprehended a large number of Chinese nationals suspected of criminal offenses, and seized a batch of servers, computers, mobile phones and other tools.

Under the command of the Ministry of Public Security, public security authorities in Hubei province dispatched a working group to Cambodia to carry out the extradition work in conjunction with the Cambodian police.

Starting Saturday, the aforementioned individuals will be extradited back to China in batches via chartered civil aviation flights, the ministry said.
