The world’s first and largest theme park centered on embodied intelligence has opened at Chimelong Spaceship on Zhuhai’s Hengqin Island, with 300 robots operating on a regular basis and integrated into services like entertainment, science education, guided tours and retail.
The robotic “employees” are manufactured by AgiBot -- a Shanghai-based company that ranks among the world’s leading embodied intelligence firms in terms of shipment volume and revenue. The move is expected to further promote widespread adoption of humanoid robots in the cultural and tourism sectors.

Starting from Sept 24, more than 100 interactive robot experience booths have begun operating within the 397,000-square-meter Chimelong Spaceship amusement park, which opened in mid-2024 with marine culture as the theme.
The robots, acting as “tour guides” and “companions”, can offer destination lookups, route planning, self-guided wayfinding, and looped commentary services, based on scenario maps and visitors’ needs. The science-education robots focus on explaining ocean knowledge through questions and answers, game challenges, and other interactive activities. In retail and hotel settings, they can also provide greeting and reception services, product consultations, and general information enquiries.
Chimelong Group has established three international tourism resorts in Guangzhou and Qingyuan, as well as at Hengqin in Guangdong province, serving as a hallmark of China’s cultural and tourism industry.
The operators aim to promote the innovative revitalization of Chimelong’s proprietary intellectual property, delivering refreshing and immersive experiences for visitors.

South Korea and Japan are also actively advancing the use of robots in large theme parks. A major robot-themed park in Incheon, South Korea, is expected to open in 2028.
This year, a robot modeled on Olaf -- a popular snowman from Disney’s blockbuster animated musical film Frozen -- has entered Disney parks in Paris and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
