Free tram and ferry rides, airfare discounts, dining deals and other promotions will be launched as part of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct 1.

The Mass Transit Railway Corp, Hong Kong’s railway operator, will give away 77,000 e-single-journey rides through a lucky draw on Oct 1 while commuters can also enjoy free rides on all passenger tram routes and several ferry routes of the Star Ferry and Fortune Ferry on that day, according to an HKSAR government statement.

Children using designated payment methods can take free rides on most daytime franchised bus routes of Kowloon Motor Bus Co, Long Win Bus, Citybus and New Lantao Bus, it added.

Initially, more than 2,000 restaurants and merchants in the city have said that will provide dining offers on Oct 1, while several public markets under the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will launch different offers.

For those planning a holiday outside the city, Greater Bay Airlines will launch a promo with tickets for all non-charter routes at 77 percent of the original fare, according to the statement.

All commercial cinemas will also provide half-price discounts on movie tickets on Oct 1 while a number of leisure facilities and exhibitions in museums of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Wetland Park under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department will offer free admission.

The Space Theatre of the Hong Kong Space Museum will screen the Sky Show "Shenzhou XIII - Space Travel" for five free sessions at 11 am, 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:45 pm and 4pm.

The Antiquities and Monuments Office, 14 projects under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme, Police Museum, Tai Kwun and PMQ will roll out various offers, including additional free guided tours.

For horse racing enthusiasts, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will hold the National Day Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on Oct 1, allowing members of the public can enter the Public Enclosures of Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses for free.

Ngong Ping 360 and Ocean Park Hong Kong will also offer ticket discounts while The Peak Tram and Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will give out souvenirs to ticket holders.
