Officials from the central government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the city’s residents bid farewell on Sunday morning to the SAR’s first chief executive, Tung Chee-hwa, who passed away on Sept 8.

The state funeral of Tung, who also served as a former vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was held at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point.

Tung’s remains were later taken to Cape Collinson Crematorium for cremation.

China Daily’s Adam Lam took photos of the solemn moments on Sunday.
