Cantonese opera performers have engaged in an interactive moment on stage with Hong Kong students, offering them a closer look at the traditional art form.
Organized as part of the "Chinese Culture for All: A Special Performance Series" under this year's Chinese Culture Festival, the event invited students to attend an open rehearsal of Judging the Lü Brothers, giving them a firsthand look into the artistry of Chinese heritage.
The scene is a key excerpt from A New Cantonese Opera Ancient Tune of Guangling, which tells the story of Ji Kang - a famed musician, writer and guqin master of the Jin Dynasty (265–420) - and his integrity amidst a local dispute, illustrating the lofty ideals of the literati through the artistry of Cantonese Opera.
China Daily photographer Andy Chong captured these vibrant moments on Friday.
