Hong Kong's IPO fundraising up 153% in first 8 months

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) said on Friday that funds raised through initial public offerings, or IPOs, for the first eight months of this year reached HK$342.4 billion (about $43.67 billion), up 153 percent from the same period last year.

Data showed that there were 106 newly listed companies for the first eight months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 80 percent.

The average daily turnover for the first eight months of 2026 was HK$282.5 billion, which showed an increase of 14 percent compared with the same period last year.

By the end of August this year, the HKEX had 2,761 listed companies with a total market capitalization of about HK$47.2 trillion.
