State Council removes secretary Erick Tsang from post

BEIJING – The State Council on Tuesday announced the removal of Erick Tsang Kwok-wai from the post of secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

The decision was made in accordance with the relevant provisions of the SAR’s Basic Law and the suggestion of Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, according to the State Council.

Tsang had been serving as secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs since 2020. Prior to that, he served as director of Immigration.
