The highly anticipated Chinese New Year (CNY) fireworks show in Guangzhou will return on the evening of Feb 17 — the first day of the Year of the Horse — at the Baietan GBA Art Center.

The display will combine high-altitude fireworks, synchronized drone formations, and light art, creating a spectacle that can be enjoyed from viewpoints along the Pearl River.

The event was confirmed as part of Liwan district’s CNY celebration schedule, which features 12 key events designed to offer a rich cultural experience for residents and visitors alike.

Highlights include the Guangzhou Flower Market on the Water (广州水上花市), which will run from Feb 12 to 14. Connecting Liwan Lake Park (荔湾湖公园), Lychee Bay Rivers (荔枝湾涌), and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum (粤剧艺术博物馆), the market will feature flower-decorated boats with a Year of the Horse theme, allowing visitors to experience the "water scenery and floral fragrance" characteristic of Lingnan culture.

Throughout February, the Flower Fair and Lantern Festival at Guangzhou Cultural Park will illuminate the grounds with dozens of lantern displays and host cultural activities like calligraphy exhibitions, puzzle-solving, and theatrical performances.
