Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has supported over 1,300 overseas and Chinese mainland companies in establishing or expanding their businesses in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from January 2023 to the first half of 2025, resulting in more than HK$160 billion ($20.3 billion) in direct investment— more than double the target set by the SAR government in 2022.

InvestHK, the government agency tasked with promoting direct investment, revealed the figures on Monday as it announced its latest achievement. Over the period, the agency assisted 1,301 companies to grow their presence in the city, attracting HK$168.4 billion in investment and creating 19,136 local jobs.

According to the agency, 630 of those companies, or about 48 percent, are from the Chinese mainland, while the rest are from other parts of the world including the United States, United Kingdom, and Singapore.

Alpha Lau Hai-suen, director-general of investment promotion at InvestHK, said the agency’s efforts span the low-altitude economy, liquor trade, and the development of the Northern Metropolis — an ambitious SAR government project — as well as other sectors.

“We will continue to leverage Hong Kong's role as a two-way springboard for mainland and overseas companies to connect between our country and the rest of the world under the 'one country, two systems' principle,” Lau added.
