The Hong Kong Observatory said it will take down all tropical cyclone warnings on Thursday afternoon as the tropical depression moves away from Hong Kong.

The HKO said in a weather bulletin that it will cancel the Standby Signal, No. 1 at 2:20 pm as the tropical storm’s threat to Hong Kong gradually decreases.

“With the tropical depression moving into the inland areas of Guangxi, weakening gradually and departing from Hong Kong, its threat to the territory will diminish in the afternoon,” the HKO said.

At 1 pm, the tropical depression was estimated to be about 430 kilometers west-southwest of Hong Kong and was forecast to move northwest at about 15 kilometers per hour across Leizhou Peninsula.

Rainbands associated with the tropical depression will still bring squalls to the territory on Thursday and there will be swells, the observatory said, urging members to stay away from the shoreline and not engage in water sports.
