A construction robot competition was held in Hong Kong on Monday, as the special administrative region government seeks to address an ageing workforce and manpower shortages in the construction sector.

Held by the Housing Bureau, the "Construction Robots for Housing - RoboPaint Master Competition x Arena of Construction Robots" is the first highlight of a government initiative calling for innovative construction technologies to boost productivity and improve safety.

Six types of robots, including a rebar-tying robot, a floor-tiling robot and a steel frame-cutting robot, were showcased during the event, providing contractors with insights into the latest developments in innovative construction technologies.

Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin attended the event.
