A police officer on Tuesday fired three shots, critically injuring a Filipino man, after two men allegedly attacked two officers who were responding to a noise complaint on the outlying island of Peng Chau.
The suspect, who was shot in the shoulder, hand and waist, was reported to be in critical condition after being airlifted to Eastern Hospital on Hong Kong Island. Two officers were also injured in the incident, while another Filipino man was arrested.
The police had received noise complaints between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday evening about a group of people who were drinking in a subdivided flat on Peng Chau’s Wing On Street
Hong Kong police said on Wednesday the officer who opened fire during the inident had acted in self-defense as his life had come under threat.

The police had received noise complaints between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday evening about a group of people who were drinking in a subdivided flat on Peng Chau’s Wing On Street.
Two Filipino men allegedly set on the officers who went there to investigate. One of the officers fired three shots after warnings were ignored.

The police cordoned off the scene. The injured officers were taken to Ruttonjee Hospital.
