By Wang Zhan

It is my great pleasure to congratulate China Daily Hong Kong Edition on the auspicious occasion of its 25th anniversary.

CDHK is one of the leading English-language newspapers in Hong Kong. In an ever-competitive media landscape where diversity and pace matter, it has secured a foothold by keeping readers posted on a wide array of topics, particularly on developments in Hong Kong and in the Chinese mainland, through both print and online media. With its professional reporting on local, national and international affairs, coupled with a wealth of insightful commentaries thereon, it has attracted a wide readership in Hong Kong and beyond.

As CDHK celebrates a quarter of a century of achievements, Hong Kong also celebrates the 25th anniversary of its return to the motherland as it ushers in a new era of greater prosperity. I look forward to the continuing endeavors of CDHK and of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in serving the best interests of society for many years to come.

It produces reliable and comprehensive news coverage and articles on issues impacting the very fabric of the city, including legal issues of significant controversy and sensitivity, to enable the English-speaking community to have a proper understanding of the same. Its in-depth commentaries by a changing mix of prominent figures from diverse backgrounds offer readers valuable perspectives and insights across a broad spectrum of topics. Paul Lam Ting-kwok, Secretary for Justice

I am delighted to extend my warm congratulations to China Daily Hong Kong Edition on its 25th anniversary.

Since its return to the motherland, Hong Kong has overcome various challenges and advanced steadily forward. Be it the global financial crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, or social violence, none of them have stopped Hong Kong from marching forward. With the implementation of the National Security Law for Hong Kong, improvements to the electoral system and full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong”, Hong Kong is poised to enter a new era of opportunities.

CDHK has been growing and prospering together with Hong Kong in the past 25 years. In the new era, I am confident that CDHK will continue to make the best endeavours to tell the world the good stories of Hong Kong and the success of “one country, two systems”, staying true to its duty of bridging China and the world for greater communication. May I wish CDHK every success in the years to come.

I sincerely congratulate China Daily Hong Kong Edition on its 25th anniversary. It is indeed a blessed moment, when the community is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The successful implementation of “one country, two systems” in Hong Kong over the past 25 years has been a widely-recognised accomplishment, allowing all sectors in Hong Kong to develop to their full potential.

CDHK has throughout provided a fair platform, bringing news to and about people of different backgrounds and nationalities, and it has always reflected public opinion accurately — a fact which the government cherishes deeply.

I wish CDHK prosperity and growth in future.

Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism

It is exciting that the 25th anniversary of China Daily Hong Kong Edition coincides with that of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

We are also celebrating our 25th anniversary. Like a person coming of age, of course there are ups and downs, also different challenges along the way. But with every challenge, we definitely see opportunities.

The opportunity for us in Hong Kong is the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, our own country and the world. I trust the SAR government and CDHK will continue to play well the role of an effective connector, communicating with our country and the rest of the world as we enhance Hong Kong’s role as a global financial center.

Christopher Hui Ching-yu, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury

Over the past quarter-century, CDHK has evolved into a key platform for people from various sectors to keep abreast of the latest developments in Hong Kong, the mainland and the world through its comprehensive, in-depth and objective reporting. Its thought-provoking commentaries have also inspired a lot of readers.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which we celebrate under the theme “A New Era — Stability • Prosperity • Opportunity”. CDHK has been growing and prospering with Hong Kong all along. I wish the newspaper continued progress and success for many years to come.
