MOSCOW – Russia has placed Mykhailo Drapatyi, the new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on its wanted list, according to the Russian Interior Ministry's database, which was updated on Tuesday.

The move came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Drapatyi's appointment to replace Oleksandr Syrsky as the country's top military commander.

The Russian Investigative Committee said it had previously filed criminal charges against Drapatyi, accusing him of commanding the Joint Forces Operation between 2017 and 2019, during which Ukrainian forces allegedly carried out shelling attacks on settlements in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions that resulted in 154 people being killed or injured.

Drapatyi previously served as the commander of Ukraine's Land Forces and the commander of the Joint Forces.

Drone attacks kill 10 in Russia's Belgorod

In another development, 10 people were killed and 79 injured by Ukrainian drone attacks in the Belgorod Region, Russia, within 24 hours, said regional acting Governor Alexander Shuvaev on Tuesday.

The attacks on three districts of the region killed one civilian and wounded two others, according to the regional operational headquarters.

Shuvaev said that 183 drones were shot down over the region in the past day when Ukraine carried out seven shelling attacks using multiple launch rocket systems and artillery, and dropped explosives from drones twice.

The region has been under intensifying Ukrainian drone attacks in the later stages of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to daily reports from local authorities, more than 90 drones were shot down over the region every day in the past week alone.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported early Tuesday that 209 Ukrainian drones were shot down over multiple regions of Russia overnight.

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian strike damaged hydraulic facilities at the Belgorod reservoir in the Belgorod Region, causing water to be discharged, regional authorities said Tuesday.

There was no flooding and no threat to the lives or health of residents downstream, Minister of Natural Resources of the Belgorod Region Roman Tatantsev said in a post on MAX, a Russian social media platform.

He added that repeated Ukrainian shelling had continued to target the dam, which would require extensive repairs before normal operations could resume.
