Xi: China ready for high-quality B&R cooperation with Bangladesh

BEIJING – China supports Bangladesh's new government in its smooth administration and stands ready to carry out high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Bangladesh, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday.

China is willing to map out key cooperation with Bangladesh and tap into the potential for collaboration in green and low-carbon development, digital economy, information technology, artificial intelligence and other fields, Xi said when he met Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

The leaders of the two countries jointly announced the building of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era to bring bilateral relations to a higher level.

Rahman began a three-day official visit to China on Wednesday, his first to the country after assuming office in February. He also attended the opening plenary of the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum, or the Summer Davos forum, in Dalian, Liaoning province.

On Thursday, China and Bangladesh signed an array of cooperation agreements on Thursday as the two countries vowed to enhance bilateral ties. Chinese Premier Li Qiang and the Bangladeshi PM witnessed the signing of the documents after their talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
