BEIJING -- The ever-expanding nuclear ambitions of Japan's right-wing forces are a dangerous signal of the resurgence of Japanese militarism that poses a serious threat to world peace and stability, China's Foreign Ministry said here on Thursday.
The ministry's spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a daily press briefing when speaking about a research report titled Nuclear Ambitions of Japan's Right-Wing Forces: A Serious Threat to World Peace, which was released on Thursday morning.

She urged Japan to face up to the call of the international community for justice, immediately clarify its position on the issue of nuclear weapons, abide by its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the three non-nuclear principles.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, urged the international community to work together to prevent the revival of Japanese militarism.

Zhang made the remarks at a press conference in response to a media query regarding recent military-related actions by the Japanese government and statements by its officials.
Criticism over Japan's negative moves in military and security areas among the international community, including the Southeast Asian countries, has been vocal and consistent, Zhang said.

He added that instead of repenting for its historical crimes and exercising caution on military buildup, Japan has fabricated various excuses to accelerate its military expansion, brazenly exported destructive weapons, and even clamored for nuclear armament in defiance of global opposition.
Such actions, Zhang said, further expose the sinister intent of Japan's right-wing forces to push for remilitarization and the resurrection of militarism.
"All peace-loving countries and peoples need to see through the Japanese government's ulterior motives, work together to prevent the revival of Japanese militarism, uphold the post-war international order, and defend peace and stability in the region and the world," Zhang said.
