
BEIJING/NANJING - The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command on Tuesday conducted drills in the waters to the east of Taiwan Island, focusing on subjects of all-dimensional force projection, breaching and raid by elite forces, as well as seizure of key ports, according to the theater command.
Task forces of amphibious assault ships, destroyers, frigates, and unmanned aerial vehicles were dispatched to conduct the drills, it said.
The drills tested the capabilities of task force coordination, systemic operations, and precision strikes on key targets, the theater command added.
Earlier, the ground forces of the theater command organized live fire training, while conducting long-range joint strike with units of the Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force in the waters to the south of Taiwan Island at 1 pm Tuesday, said a military spokesperson.
Li Xi, spokesperson of the PLA Eastern Theater Command, noted that the drills achieved desired effects.
The ground forces of the theater command conducted long-range live fire drills in the waters to the north of Taiwan Island at 9 am on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, the theater command conduced drills on assault against maritime targets, anti-air and anti-submarine operations to the north and south of Taiwan Island, according to the theater command.
Destroyers, frigates, fighters and bombers are being employed on subjects of identification and verification, warning and expulsion, simulated strikes, assault on maritime targets, as well as anti-air and anti-submarine operations.
The drills test capabilities of sea-air coordination and integrated blockade and control, said the theater command.
