A robust international intellectual property ecosystem is taking shape at the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.
According to the State Council’s blueprint for the zone, the central government supports building a high-level IP protection system aligned with international standards.

Zeng Jianpeng, director of the zone’s development administration, said the Shenzhen Park has introduced a series of internationally aligned IP service centers. “Without a doubt, we can form the most comprehensive IP ecosystem in the country,” he said.
The Shenzhen Intellectual Property Administration is expediting the establishment of a pilot platform for national intellectual property operation and international transfer, which was approved recently, in the zone.

The platform will be mainly operated by the City University of Hong Kong’s Institute of Materials Science (Futian), focusing on global patent transfer and matching, transaction facilitation, patent guidance, talent cultivation, international exchanges, and policy consulting.
Zeng said the platform will leverage the advantages of the Shenzhen Park and the City University of Hong Kong to connect global innovation resources through intellectual property, and promote international scientific and technological cooperation.

It can also promote cross-border transactions of intellectual property, and facilitate the transformation of international innovation achievements in the mainland, he added.
Several other IP service providers also have set foot in the zone, including China (South) Intellectual Property Center, China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Arbitration Center and the Technology and IP Exchange Center of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
