RIYADH - Saudi Arabia announced Saturday that the number of pilgrims performing haj rituals in the country exceeded 1.8 million this year.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the pilgrims came from more than 200 countries, citing the Saudi General Authority for Statistics.
Out of the total 1,833,164 worshippers, 1,611,310 were foreign pilgrims and 221,854 domestic pilgrims, according to the report.

Regarding the foreign pilgrims, 22.3 percent were from Arab countries, 63.3 percent from non-Arab Asian countries, 11.3 percent from non-Arab African countries, and the remaining from other countries.
