Cross-boundary travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen received a major boost at 6:30 am on Monday as the redeveloped, 24-hour Huanggang Port officially commenced operations following comprehensive stress testing and drills.

Adopting an advanced "collaborative inspection and joint clearance" model, the port is equipped with 134 automated channels and 68 staffed counters, with daily capacity designed for 200,000 passenger trips and 15,000 vehicles. Under the new arrangement, travelers can complete immigration procedures for both sides in a single passage through side-by-side automated inspection facilities, cutting the clearance time from 30 to 5 minutes.
