MACAO – The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the "2026 Trafficking in Persons Report" released by the US Department of State.
The report maliciously slanders the Macao SAR's achievements in combating human trafficking, smears its human rights situation, and grossly interferes in Macao affairs and China's internal affairs.
Since Macao's return to the motherland, with strong support from the central government, the Macao SAR government has upheld the rule of law, resolutely combated illegal crimes including human trafficking, effectively carried out preventive measures, and consistently engaged in international and regional cooperation.
For years, Macao has maintained a low or zero incidence of human trafficking, making it recognized by the international community as one of the safest cities in the world. Macao residents and foreign nationals live happily in contentment, with their safety and legitimate rights fully protected.
