WestK Performing Arts unveiled on Thursday the opening program highlights for the WestK Performing Arts Centre (WestK PAC), which is located beside Victoria Harbour and scheduled to open in 2027.

As Hong Kong’s first flagship venue dedicated to dance and theater, and a landmark addition to Asia’s performing arts landscape, WestK PAC will open with world and Asian premieres, international co-commissions, cross-regional collaborations and original Hong Kong productions, offering audiences a vibrant and expansive celebration of artistic innovation and cultural exchange and advancing WestK’s vision of becoming a leading performing arts destination and regional theatre hub.

Paul Tam, executive director of performing arts, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, said, “The opening season aims to establish the WestK Performing Arts Centre as an international arts center where outstanding performances are presented, new works are created, talent is developed, artists and audiences alike feel they all belong.”

“With dance and theater being its key artistic drivers, the center, through the opening program, builds its distinctive artistic identity by placing Hong Kong artists and creative perspectives at its heart, alongside exceptional works from the Chinese mainland and around the world. It also highlights the center as a generator of new works, commissioning original Hong Kong productions as well as international collaborations.”

Supporting the full creative journey, from research, development, workshops, rehearsals to premiere to future reruns, WestK PAC is committed to nurturing and supporting talent, whether emerging or established, through meaningful opportunities. Equally important is bringing the performing arts to wider audiences through welcoming, engaging and accessible experiences, making the center a place people return to and a part of their lives, he added.

The opening program highlights include Bruce Lee: A Hong Kong Legend (World Premiere), The Impossible Trial – a musical , My Dance Future: Talk & Show Series, Wong Fei Hung, Thus Have I Heard: A Play Inspired by The Diamond Sutra, and City of Floating Sound.

In addition, WestK PAC will present a wide range of world-class dance, theater and musical productions by renowned artists and leading arts groups from around the world, offering audiences fresh and inspiring artistic experiences.
