GUANGZHOU — Hong Kong International Airport is widening its footprint at the 140th China Import and Export Fair, adding airline counters and expanding free baggage delivery for international traders across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The airport’s on-site check-in service at the fair grew from five carriers to eight this session of Canton Fair. Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Greater Bay Airlines, HK Express, and Thai Airways have returned, joined by newcomers Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, and China Airlines.
The upgrade allows visitors check in and drop off baggage at the Canton Fair Complex on Guangzhou’s Pazhou Island, instead of hauling them to Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport later.
Hong Kong airport already operates a seamless transfer link through the Pazhou port: passengers can clear Chinese mainland’s exit formalities, take a ferry to the airport’s restricted area, and walk straight to the departure gate without clearing Hong Kong immigration again.
