Hong Kong Special Administrative Region gymnast Ng Ka-ki on Friday won a bronze medal in the men’s vault at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.

The win was Hong Kong’s first artistic gymnastics medal at this year’s Games, bringing the city’s medal haul to 24 — four gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.

As of 3 pm on Friday, the city held sixth position in the overall medal ranking.

Ng topped qualifying before posting a two-vault average of 14.116 points in the final.

His competitors — Carlos Edriel Yulo, representing the Philippines, and Mahdi Olfati, representing Iran — claimed gold and silver, with averages of 14.599 and 15.533 points, respectively.

Hong Kong’s Shek Wai-hung previously won gold in the men’s vault at the 2014 Incheon and 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
