HONG KONG – Chinese autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) technology company EHang on Friday held the inaugural demonstration flight of its pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at Cyberport in Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone for the city’s low-altitude economy ambitions.

The ceremony took place at Cyberport, where EHang showcased its flagship EH216-S autonomous aerial vehicle.

According to the company, the aircraft is capable of carrying two passengers, flying at an altitude of 120 meters, and operating for approximately half an hour per charge. The EH216-S has been operating commercial routes in Guangzhou and Hefei, where it has been used for aerial sightseeing and short-distance urban transportation.

EHang’s Hong Kong debut follows its selection in June 2026 as one of the city’s “Low-Altitude Economy Regulatory Sandbox X” pilot projects.

The company was selected alongside partners Kwoon Chung Smart Mobility and Cyberport for the sandbox program, which aims to test and develop low-altitude economy applications in Hong Kong.
