
A total of 159 people were killed and 10 others remain missing after Typhoon Maysak battered parts of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, local authorities said in dual meetings on post-disaster recovery and reconstruction held in Nanning and Guigang on Thursday.
The typhoon brought historically rare and widespread persistent heavy rainfall in early July, triggering severe disasters across the region, Xinhua News Agency reported.

As of 12 am on Friday, the disaster had affected more than 1.65 million people across 16 counties, cities and districts in the two cities. Both cities have now shifted their focus to the post-disaster recovery and reconstruction phase.
