An exhibition which offers an immersive experience into the challenges of film acquisition and preservation is set to open on Friday at the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA). 

Running through May 9, 2027, the Treasure-Hunt Stories: A 25-Year Cinematic Journey exhibition recreates an overseas acquisition site and a “film tunnel” that imitates the HKFA's film vault. It also features actual equipment used by professional conservators, introducing visitors to restoration procedures and the technical knowledge involved.

The HKFA also partnered with the Hong Kong Design Institute, inviting its digital media students to design two interactive games for the exhibition, allowing visitors to experience the fun and complexity of acquisition and conservation.
