HK property sales jump 35.6% y-o-y in H1

The Land Registry of Hong Kong recorded 49,955 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in the first six months of the 2026, up 13.9 percent compared to the second half of 2025 and a jump of 35.6 percent year-on-year.

The total consideration for such agreements in the first half of the year was HK$410.29 billion ($52.31 billion), surging 48.1 percent year-on-year and an increase of 21.7 percent from the last six months of 2025.

The number of assignments of building units for the first half of 2026 also rose 40.6 percent year-on-year to 64,905, an increase of 15.3 percent compared with the second half of last year.

The total consideration for these assignments surged 52.9 percent year-on-year to HK$432.96 billion, or a jump of 19.8 percent compared with the second half of 2025.

The number of searches of land registers made by the public in the first six months of 2026 reached 2, 568,991, up 8.4 percent from the second half of 2025 and a year-in-year increase of 14.3 percent.
