Xia to visit HK starting Tuesday

Xia Baolong, head of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will embark on a two-day inspection tour of Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Xia, who is also the director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, is expected to inspect Hong Kong's alignment with the National 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and the development of the Northern Metropolis.

In a statement by Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu expressed gratitude to Xia for his continued concern and support for Hong Kong.

Lee said he was enthusiastically looking forward to the visit and extended his warmest welcome to Xia.

The Hong Kong SAR government endeavors to support and facilitate the inspection to ensure a smooth visit, the statement reads.

Xia’s visit came a day after the city began its public consultation on its first-ever five-year plan to dovetail its development with the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan.

Xia has visited the city annually over the past three years. Last year alone, he made two trips, touring sites such as the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.
