SANYA -- China completed a clean sweep of the aquathlon gold medals at the 6th Asian Beach Games (ABG) after a dominant victory in the mixed relay on Saturday.

The Chinese quartet of Lin Xinyu, Teng Yunfei, Lu Meiyi and Luo Yunkang remained unfazed by the event's weather-related rescheduling, clocking one hour, one minute and 44 seconds to take the title. Hong Kong, China finished 51 seconds behind in second place, while Japan came third.

Combined with Fan Junjie's and Lin's wins in the men's and women's individual events, which also delivered the first two gold medals of the Games, China claimed all three golds in aquathlon's ABG debut.

"My teammates built such a big lead for me, so I couldn't afford to relax. I had to fight alongside them to secure the gold," said China's fourth-leg athlete, 18-year-old Luo, who suffered a spasm after the race.

In another water event, the women's 5km open water swimming, China's Li Xinxuan and Chen Yijing secured a one-two finish, with Li taking gold in 1:01:33.6 and Chen claiming silver, while Vietnam's Vo Thi My Tien finished third.

Li made her decisive move in the final lap, surging from behind to overtake the leader. She said the comeback was always under control. "I have a clear understanding of my ability and manage my energy during the race. I was confident in myself, so I chose to accelerate earlier in the final stage," Li said after the race.

In beach athletics, gold medals were shared by China, Thailand and Vietnam. China's Song Jiayuan claimed the women's shot put title with a season-best throw of 19.15 meters, while her teammate Zhang Linru took silver. Thailand swept the men's and women's 60m titles, with Puripol Boonson winning the men's gold in a personal-best 6.62 seconds and Jirapat Khanonta taking the women's crown in 7.46 seconds. In the men's long jump, Vietnam's Pham Van Nghia secured gold with a 7.44-meter leap on his second attempt.

In dragon boat, China won the women's DB200m grand final in 51.964 seconds, with Thailand, Vietnam and Macao, China finishing second to fourth. In the men's event, Thailand took gold in 45.500 seconds, while China and Chinese Taipei claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

Also on Saturday, 3x3 basketball tipped off at the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium. China's women's team cruised past Kazakhstan and Qatar in the group stage to secure an early spot in the knockout rounds. In contrast, China's men's team faced a much tougher path, first falling to the Philippines in a free-throw decider before edging Iran in a tense match to keep their qualification hopes alive.
