A 42-year-old Citybus driver died after he reportedly collapsed while driving, and his bus mounted a pavement in Lantau North on Saturday night, police said.

The man was driving along Chung Yan Road towards Tung Chung Road when he lost control of the bus, which had no passengers, at about 10:55 pm.

The bus mounted the pavement, slammed through a bus stop and railings, before hitting a pedestrian overpass, local media reported.

Police said the driver was rushed to North Lantau Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 12:06 Sunday.
