HONG KONG - A No 3 alarm fire was extinguished in a tin-sheeted house near Lo Wai in Hong Kong's Tsuen Wan district in the early hours of Friday.
Erupting at 9:48 pm on Thursday, the fire was upgraded to No 3 alarm at 10:07 pm, accompanied by explosions that prompted numerous emergency calls.
Flames raged intensely at the scene, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky, visible from a distance, according to local media reports. Nearly 100 people were evacuated in the initial response.
Firemen used four jets and mobilized four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze, a government statement released early Friday.
The blaze was surrounded at 11:45 pm, put under control at midnight and largely put out at 0:20 am, the statement read. No casualties have been reported.
