China calls for two-state solution as Israel moves to expand control in West Bank

BEIJING - China believes the two-state solution is the fundamental way to resolve the Palestinian question, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China has consistently opposed the construction of new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Lin made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked to comment on measures adopted by Israel to strengthen control in the occupied West Bank and facilitate settlement expansion.
