BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday sent congratulations to Vietnamese leaders on the 76th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations.

In his message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, recalled his state visit to Vietnam in April 2025.

Xi said that during the visit, he and the Vietnamese leaders reached important consensus on accelerating the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, and jointly mapped out a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations in the new era.

Xi said that he is pleased to see that over the past year, exchanges between the two sides at all levels have become closer, and cooperation in areas such as political security, trade and investment, and cultural and educational exchanges has delivered more tangible results.

Vigorous activities marking the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges brought tangible benefits to both peoples, and injected strong impetus into their efforts for national modernization, he added.

Xi pointed out that this year marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and that the 14th National Congress of the CPV is about to be held, ushering Vietnam into a new era of national development. He stressed that both China and Vietnam are at crucial stages of their respective development and revitalization.

Working together to advance a socialist path that suits each country's national conditions, consolidating good-neighborliness and friendship, and deepening unity and cooperation are in the common interests of both sides, and bear great significance for revitalizing the world's socialist cause and promoting human development and progress, Xi said.

Xi noted that he attaches great importance to the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, and is ready to work with the Vietnamese leaders to steer the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance to new heights and greater depth, so as to better benefit the two peoples and contribute more to regional development.
