The State Council on Wednesday announced the appointment of Zhang Yong as a deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR.

Zhang, who previously served as the executive vice-president of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Ltd, will replace Qi Bin, who was relieved of his role at the same position in the same State Council announcement issued on Wednesday.

The central government’s liaison office is led by Zhou Ji, with other three deputy directors - Liu Guangyuan, Luo Yonggang, and Sun Shangwu. The office’s secretary general is Wang Songmiao.
