In his nearly 10-minute address on Wednesday night -- New Year’s Eve -- Xi reaffirmed the central government’s unwavering support for the two SARs’ integration into national development, as well as their long-term prosperity and stability.

In a social media post, Lee said during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, with the strong support of the central government, Hong Kong has demonstrated the powerful vitality of “one country, two systems”.

He highlighted Hong Kong’s resilience in overcoming challenges over the past year. Under Xi’s leadership and with the joint efforts of the HKSAR government and society, the city has achieved remarkable results in economic development and improvement of people's livelihoods, while maintaining international competitiveness.
