
BEIJING - The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command is conducting drills on assault against maritime targets, anti-air and anti-submarine operations to the north and south of Taiwan Island on Tuesday, according to the theater command.
Destroyers, frigates, fighters and bombers are being employed on subjects of identification and verification, warning and expulsion, simulated strikes, assault on maritime targets, as well as anti-air and anti-submarine operations.
The drills test capabilities of sea-air coordination and integrated blockade and control, said the theater command.
Long-range live fire drills
The ground forces of the theater command conducted long-range live fire drills in the waters to the north of Taiwan Island at 9 am on Tuesday, said a military spokesperson.
Li Xi, spokesperson of the theater command, noted that the drills achieved desired effects.
