Commissioner's Office summons consulate reps over Lai conviction comments

The Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR has spoken with representatives of consulates general, including from the US and the UK, urging them to abide by international law and stop interfering in the conviction of Jimmy Lai Chee-ying.

According to the official website of the Commissioner's Office, the office on Dec 17 and 18 summoned the representatives, alongside others speaking for a range of organizations in the city.

The office lodged solemn representations against remarks made by officials and politicians from the countries and organizations summoned regarding the conviction of Lai, and asked them to respect China's sovereignty and refrain from interfering in Hong Kong’s internal affairs.
