
Hong Kong’s boccia athletes took three bronze medals on Friday morning at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.
Hong Kong’s Paris 2024 Paralympic Games medalist Cheung Yuen maintained her lead through all four sessions in the women's BC4 bronze medal match, defeating Guangdong's Zhan Xia 4-1. Cheung said she felt her performance was more consistent than it was on the previous day, adding she will prepare well for the upcoming women's pairs BC4 event and aims to perform at her best.
In the men's individual BC4 bronze medal contest, Hong Kong's Tang Zhijiang secured third place with a 3-2 victory over Guangdong's Zheng Yuansen.

Meanwhile, in the men's individual BC1 bronze medal match, Hong Kong's John Loung overcame an early one-point deficit by scoring four points across the next three sessions, ultimately defeating Chongqing's Luo Guanzhong to claim the medal.
The combined 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games continue across Guangdong province, Hong Kong, and Macao through Monday. Hong Kong’s athletes continue to strive for podium finishes in the remaining events.
