China has sent a new pair of giant pandas to Malaysia for a 10-year international cooperation on giant panda conservation, according to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan province.

The pandas, named Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, took a flight from the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Malaysia on Tuesday afternoon. They were selected for a new round of the panda conservation cooperation program between China and Malaysia after the two countries extended their conservation agreement in April.

Chen Xing is a male born on Aug 19, 2020. He is outgoing and lively, and loves climbing trees and playing in water. Xiao Yue, a female born on Sept 29, 2020, has a mild temperament and enjoys eating and playing.

To ensure their safety and health during the journey, the panda center prepared fresh bamboo, bamboo shoots, steamed cornbread, drinking water, and medicine. The animals were accompanied by a keeper and a veterinarian from the center, along with two veterinarians sent by the Malaysian side. The staff will stay with the pair until they adapt to their new environment at the Zoo Negara, according to the panda center.
