A hanfu (traditonal Chinese attire) festival will unfold this Saturday at the Xinda Hetang Wetland Park (新大禾塘湿地园) in Nanao (南澳), where 7,000 square meters of pink muhly grass has bloomed into a soft, dreamy landscape.

Organized by the Nanao sub-district office, the "Guofeng Yayun Hui" (国风雅韵会) is the first in a series of activities designed to attract visitors to the park, where the grass will retain its pink hue until late November. The festival will begin at 2 pm Saturday.

Visitors can experience a rich program of traditional performances and interactive activities.

Aside from a hanfu show against the sea of muhly grass, the event will also include the traditional folk dance Qilin Picks the Eight Treasures (麒麟采八宝). Qilin (麒麟) is a mythical Chinese unicorn also known as a kylin.

The park's entrance will be adorned with decorations such as lanterns, gauze curtains, and oil-paper umbrellas, creating an ancient charm . Within this themed area, visitors can try their hand at classic Chinese games such as touhu (投壶, pitch-pot) and archery, with prizes available for winners. Various food stalls will offer snacks for purchase.

In the evening, a lakeside concert will be staged, featuring a repertoire that includes both folk music and modern pop.

Admission to the festival is free, and no prior registration is required. For those taking public transport, the park is about a 20-minute walk from the Xinda Bus Terminal (新大公交总站), served by routes E11 and 833.

This weekend's event kicks off a month of activities in Nanao's "Pink Muhly Grass Sea Season" (粉黛花海季). Follow-up events in November include a cycling tour and a 10km fun run.

Totaling 150,000 square meters, the wetland park is a favorite among local visitors because of its 20,000 square meters of mangrove, bird-watching spots and scenic walking path.
