Annual GBA conference & Mega Show in HK, trade fair in Macao

HONG KONG – The Greater Bay Area Conference 2025 is set to take place on Thursday at Conrad Hong Kong, bringing together top minds to delve into the topic of multifaceted connectivity within the highly open, vibrant city cluster.

Under the theme “Financial Connectivity, Nurturing Talent, Building Cultural Bridges”, the event will feature keynote addresses from Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu.

Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, secretary for culture, sports and tourism, will join discussions on leveraging the upcoming 15th National Games as a platform to deepen sports and cultural ties across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.  

Moreover, policymakers, business executives, and renowned scholars will participate in two panel discussions focusing on cross-border financial connectivity and talent development.  

The event is open to pre-registered corporates and individuals.

Sourcing extravaganza

The first session of this year’s Mega Show will kick off on Monday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Exhibitors from 29 regions and countries around the world will showcase a huge plethora of gifts and premiums, housewares, kitchen and dining, lifestyle products, etc., during the four-day event session.

This year’s event will introduce cross-border global selling, aiming at helping buyers grasp the essentials for global expansion and tackling international market challenges.

Macao trade fair

The 30th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) will begin on Wednesday at the Cotai Expo, the Venetian Macao, serving as a platform for international exhibitors to discover innovative products and expand business networks.  

Under the theme “Macao: Gateway to Global Business”, the four-day event brings together participants from more than 40 countries and regions. It will feature over 50 high-level economic and trade conferences and forums, as well as a variety of business matchmaking sessions.  

This edition puts a spotlight on innovation, with over 20 products and technologies making their debut. For the first time, robots will act as event promoters, engaging with the public through pop-up roadshows.  

Intangible cultural heritage

Foshan is holding an intangible cultural heritage week, bringing the public a tangible, participatory, and shareable cultural tourism experience.

As an essential component of the 2025 Guangdong intangible cultural heritage week, the event, running from Oct 11 to 19, welcomed arts troupes from 13 countries.

A parade, scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday night, will feature Guangdong’s cultural heritage through a series of themed performances and incorporate artificial intelligence elements.
