RIGA - A Canadian soldier who went missing in Latvia earlier this month has been found dead, the Canadian military confirmed on Sunday, without disclosing the cause of his death.

Warrant Officer George Hohl, a vehicle technician serving in the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia, was last seen on Tuesday in Adazi, a municipality outside Riga and home to a military base where the NATO Multinational Brigade is stationed.

His body was found on Friday, said the army.

The Latvian law enforcement authorities, with the support of the Canadian Armed Forces, have launched an investigation into the case.

The Canadian Armed Forces said that the incident poses no threat to the personnel of the NATO brigade stationed in Latvia, which is led by Canada.
