The People’s Republic of China is 73 years old today and Hong Kong is celebrating the occasion with due fanfare. The Chinese national flag as well as that of the Hong Kong SAR are flying side by side in the many commemorative displays all around town. From playgrounds to pedestrian walkways to digital displays along Victoria Harbour — wherever you look, red is the warmest color.
