HK couple held over suspected murder of 3-month-old boy

HONG KONG – Hong Kong police are investigating a murder case in Mong Kok in the small hours of Saturday in which a three-month-old baby boy died.

In a statement, police said they received a report at 1:54 am from a 35-year-old man that a baby boy had collapsed in a flat on Pok Man Street.

Police officers sped to the scene and found the boy collapsed in bed, sustaining multiple injuries. He was unconscious and rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he was certified dead at 3:08 am.

“After initial investigation, the case is classified as murder,” the statement read. 

The 35-year-old man and his 24-year-old wife have been arrested and are being detained for further investigations.

Police said post-mortem examinations would be conducted to ascertain the boy’s cause of death.
