14 virus cases detected in Sheung Shui, Kwai Chung testing

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong government detected 14 positive COVID-19 cases during overnight targeted testing operations in Sheung Shui and Kwai Chung.

In separate statements issued on Sunday, the government said 11 cases were found at Ching Ping House, Ching Ho Estate, Sheung Shui while three infections were detected at Kwai Ming House, Kwai Hong Court in Kwai Chung.

The government cordoned off the two buildings on Saturday after reviewing several factors, including the viral load in their sewage.  The government said 1,684 residents were tested at Ching Ping House  while 755 underwent testing in Kwai Ming House.

It added that 75 Sheung Shui households did not answer the door when government health workers knocked while 23 in Kwai Chung also did not reply.

Hong Kong reported 794 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, the second consecutive day that the daily count fell below 1,000.
